Will we get any candidates we can get really excited about? The democrats seem stuck with Biden, or who? Do the republicans have Trump still in trouble or DeSantis? Expect people everywhere to be put in another race to the bottom of the barrel. Other than the extremes on both sides of the aisle, I can tell you middle America isn’t excited about the possibilities for the next president of the United States, let alone the debating, news cycles, and voting process.
While there is still a chance for change, what will it take to get someone new into the conversation? Not that new is what we should value most, but before we’re stuck with the same polarizing people, is there anyone out there crazy enough to make a serious bid for the presidency? Before you think all I’m going to do is ask questions, let me answer the last ones. Yes, we are stuck with the same processes and people, and no, even when someone is crazy enough to try, they are torn apart by the mean US political machine.
Hard to hear, but you already knew these answers, didn’t you? Regardless of what political party a passionate person belongs to, I love to ask the question, “if you could have anyone run for office, who would it be?”. It’s a great question that creates a pretty insightful dialogue. One by one, they see they’re pick falling into legitimate concerns. We know the perfect candidate doesn’t exist, but how about even close to perfect? I’m telling you, it’s hard to find someone that couldn’t stand up to even the slightest scrutiny.
Here are some of the “dream” picks from democrats:
- Michelle Obama – She’s too smart for that
- Oprah Winfrey – She’s too rich and happy for that
- Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – She’s too easy of a target
- Nancy Pelosi – She’s got too extreme for the other side
(Yes, I realize those are all women)
Here are some of the picks from Republicans:
- Elon Musk – I’m not even sure he’s a Republican, and that’s the least of his problems.
- Joe Rogan – Talk about an easy target for the other side
- OZ – We’re not even sure he’ll win his current election
- Paul Ryan – Not bad, but he alienated the Trump machine too much
(Yes, I realize these are all men)
I hate to be the guy pointing out the problems without offering a solution, but hopefully, we will start some new dialogue and consider where we’re at so we can get somewhere better before it’s too late. So many people want change while we keep picking through more of the same. Here’s my prediction. One year from now, we will wish we had another option.
