A Sunrise police sergeant caught on camera attacking another officer during an arrest is now behind bars. Sgt. Christopher Pullease was taken into custody on several charges, including battery on an officer and tampering with evidence.

Scientists have found a new non-addictive painkiller that could be a valuable alternative to opioid drugs like morphine and oxycodone. The promising compound called BnOCPA showed to be non-addictive, potent, and selective in its pain-killing action when tested on model systems such as frog hearts, rat brains, and human cells.

Zhifan Dong was a first-year undergraduate student when she and Haoyu Wang began dating. In February 2022, one month after Dong reported that Wang assaulted her, she was found dead at a motel in Salt Lake City. Wang emailed a university official that he and Dong were going to die by suicide together.

The 53-year-old man was hiking in Tahoe National Forest and fell 70 feet. He called 911 with his cellphone, complaining that he broke his hip and a few ribs. The rescue crew struggled to find the injured man at first. Then the man’s border collie named Saul rushed over and led rescuers to the man.

A man drove his truck into a family as they walked in a tourist village bordering Glacier National Park and opened fire killing one man and mortally wounding a toddler while being held by her mother. According to authorities, the mother’s sister-in-law killed the assailant after he ran out of ammunition. The assailant, Derick Amos Madden, 37, had been in a prior relationship with the woman who killed him and struggled with mental illness.

James Gandolfini was well known for his role as Tony Soprano from HBO series “The Sopranos”. His death shocked the world, especially the entertainment industry, but his legacy lives on. Gandolfini died unexpectedly from a heart attack while vacationing in Rome in June 2013.

The parents were holding their baby standing on their third-floor roof terrace when the animals landed and surrounded them. The father, Nirdesh reportedly tried to run away from them with the 4-month-old, when the baby fell out of his hands to the ground and one of the monkeys grabbed him before he could pick him back up and threw him over the side. The baby died immediately.

Police officer Daniel Vasquez, 32, was shot after he stopped a driver in a gray Ford Taurus for an expired temporary tag. The suspected shooter fled the scene, and Vasquez was rushed to the hospital where he later died.

The San Diego school board is getting a lot of heat. The president of the school board suggested students uncomfortable with the renewed mask mandate should just “not return” to class and restart distance learning instead. There has been push back from the parents. Parents are demanding new leadership so they can put away these outdated policies.
