A Texas man allegedly murdered a beloved school teacher and left her bullet-riddled body behind for her 5-year-old daughter to find, local police said. Shereena Ann Webster, 36, was murdered on August 18th in her home while her daughter was in another room. Police say her ex-boyfriend Erik Rivas, 32, shot her and fled, according to records. The little girl awoke the next morning and found her mother’s lifeless body.

A 10-foot, 2-inch-long alligator was captured and killed by gator hunters in Mississippi earlier this week. The female alligator was estimated to be 75 to 100 years old. Not only did she break a state record, the alligator tied with a previous world record for the longest free-ranging wild female alligator, which was caught in Florida in 1984.

Xavier Hayes was allegedly playing with a handgun and it misfired and shot his brother Dimitri in the face. Dimitri Hayes was pronounced dead at a local hospital shortly after the incident. Xavier is currently being held in DeKalb County Jail outside of Atlanta, Georgia.

On Friday Jetal Agnihotri, 29 was hiking with friends at Zion National Park, and disappeared from the trail. Her body was discovered Monday in the Virgin River, about 6 miles south of the area where she was swept away by floodwaters.

The plea agreement includes a jail term of five days, however Judge Joseph Solga noted that he already had credit for four days, two from actual time served and two for conduct credits. A bevy of flights has been disrupted this summer as carriers faced bad weather and air traffic control issues in addition to ongoing staffing shortages.
