Once crowned the Queen of Rom-Com movies by Rotten Tomatoes, Julia Roberts is back to her roots with her next movie. This new flick, Ticket to Paradise, will put her opposite long-time friend and previous costar, George Clooney. The setup includes the two as a divorced couple partnering up to stop their daughter from getting married and making the same mistake they made 25 years earlier. It’s guaranteed to have some beautiful scenes full of beautiful people.
The story takes us to Bali (although filmed in Australia) where the unhappy couple’s daughter, played by Kaitlyn Dever, falls in love and is about to go full steam ahead with a wedding. Dever, being quite the up-and-coming actress, has been a part of television shows that include everything from Justified with Timothy Olyphant to Last Man Standing with Tim Allen to most recently, Dopesick with Michael Keaton. Her more noteworthy movies include Booksmart, Short Term 12 and The Spectacular Now.
Still, everyone seems most excited to have Julia Roberts: the bombshell of a beauty that gave us Pretty Woman, Notting Hill, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Runaway Bride, and Mystic Pizza. It’s been more than 20 years since one of her last romantic comedies in 1999, staring opposite Hugh Grant, landing arguably one of her most famous lines “I’m also just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.” So, in honor of her blessing us with another rom-com that we hope is another classic in the coming year, here is another favorite line by the Queen of Rom-Com that seems appropriate:
“Baby, I’m gonna treat you so nice, you’re never gonna want to let me go.”
Ticket to Paradise is scheduled for October of 2022.
